On December 9, 2025, the Legion of Honor’s Court of Honor underwent a transformation. J. Riccardo Benavides and IDEAS Events & Rentals created a burgundy-and-gold holiday setting beneath a tent that sheltered guests from the December evening while preserving views of the museum’s Beaux-Arts architecture.
More than 220 guests gathered for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco’s seasonal gala, which supports exhibition programming and educational initiatives at both the Legion of Honor and de Young museums. The evening marked one of San Francisco’s signature cultural celebrations.
The Scene at San Francisco’s Beaux-Arts Landmark
The Legion of Honor, located in Lincoln Park overlooking the Golden Gate, provided the backdrop for the black-tie affair. Designed by George Applegarth and modeled after Paris’s Palais de la Légion d’Honneur, the museum opened in 1924 and has spent its centennial year hosting special exhibitions and programs.
J-P Conte was photographed alongside Todd and Katie Traina, Allison Speer, Bo Lasater, and other prominent figures. The Caviar Co. provided caviar service while McCalls Catering & Events prepared the multi-course dinner. Tables filled the transformed courtyard as guests settled in for an evening of celebration.
Music and Movement
The Bob Hardwick Sound Sensation, a big band ensemble, flew in from New York City exclusively for the evening. The group performed musical standards spanning swing, Latin, and pop/rock, providing entertainment as guests transitioned from dinner to dancing.
The celebration kicked off San Francisco’s holiday social season with joyful energy. Honorary Chair Diane Wilsey presided alongside gala co-chairs including FAMSF Board President Lorna Meyer Calas and Barbara A. Wolfe.
